While it is critical to understand the fundamentals, SAFe is a guide, not a manual. The Scaled Agile Framework is designed for flexibility to fit the context of diverse business environments.

In this recent keynote presentation with RTE Circle, Applied Frameworks SAFe Program Consultant Michael Robertson breaks down the steps to implementing SAFe by comparing the pitfalls of rigid adherence against the benefits of staying flexible.

Webinar Outline
  1. Foundation for Implementing SAFe
  2. Preparing for the Agile Release Train (ART)
  3. Training Teams
  4. Coaching the ART
  5. Launching More ARTs

Additional insights from Michael’s presentation include:

  • SAFe is always on. Though SAFe works best with a flexible mindset, the framework doesn’t work like a toggle switch. You can’t just turn it off when it is inconvenient.
  • Don’t rely on heroes. Leadership is a requirement, but don’t count on one person to implement SAFe in your organization. By its nature, SAFe requires teamwork. Everyone building the solution is involved.
  • Get ready to work. Preparing for ART requires a lot more than setting a date. A lot of prep work is required to make an ART successful.
